Dress Standards Policy

Troy Country Club is committed to maintaining a polished and welcoming environment for all members, families, and guests. Our dress standards reflect the pride and tradition of our club while embracing contemporary golf and lifestyle trends. Members are responsible for ensuring that their family members and guests are informed of and comply with these standards prior to arrival.
Golf Course & Practice Areas
Appropriate Attire
- Collared or mock-neck golf shirts
- Golf pants, shorts, skirts, or skorts
- Performance outerwear — pullovers, vests, and hoodies with minimal branding
- Hats worn facing forward at all times
- Spike-less, soft-spiked, or athletic golf footwear
Not Permitted
- Denim of any kind
- Gym, running, or tennis shorts
- Cargo shorts or excessively baggy clothing
- Tank tops or graphic t-shirts
- Sandals, flip-flops, or bare feet
Shirt Guidelines
- Shirts with a traditional tail must be tucked in.
- Shirts designed to be worn untucked must feature a structured hem and a tailored fit.
Grille Room
Country Club Casual or better. Clean, presentable, and appropriate for a family dining environment.
Appropriate Attire
- Collared shirts, mock-necks, or golf attire
- Golf pants or shorts
- Clean, well-fitted denim (no rips, holes, or fraying)
- Neat and presentable appearance
Not Permitted
- Tank tops
- Graphic T-shirts
- Swimwear of any kind
- Distressed or frayed clothing
Hat Policy — Grille Room
- Hats are not permitted for gentlemen in the Grille Room.
- Hats are permitted for ladies.
Bar Area
Casual, neat, and appropriate attire is expected throughout the Bar Area.
Appropriate Attire
- Collared or non-graphic shirts
- Clean, casual attire
- Hats permitted (worn facing forward)
Not Permitted
- Swimwear
- Tank tops or cut-off shirts
- Graphic t-shirts (see Game Day exception)
Special Event & Game Day Exception
On designated Game Days or major sporting events, tasteful team apparel — including logo t-shirts — is permitted in the Bar Area, subject to the following conditions:
- Apparel must be clean and in good condition.
- No offensive language or graphics of any kind.
- Tank tops and cut-off shirts remain prohibited regardless of the event.
Tennis Courts
Appropriate Attire
- Tennis or athletic apparel designed for active court use
- Shirts, polos, or athletic tops
- Tennis skirts, shorts, or athletic shorts of appropriate length
- Court-appropriate footwear
Not Permitted
- Denim of any kind
- Swimwear
- Cut-offs or excessively worn clothing
Junior Members
Junior members are expected to observe the same standards as adult members, applied in an age-appropriate manner.
- Clean, neat, and sport-appropriate attire at all times.
- Athletic wear is acceptable when it aligns with golf or tennis dress standards.
- Clothing featuring offensive graphics or language is strictly prohibited.
Guest Policy
Members are responsible for informing their guests of club dress standards in advance and for ensuring compliance upon arrival.
Club staff reserve the right to determine and enforce these dress standards on behalf of the membership and the Board of Directors.
